NASH demonstrates rapid seal test and repair service capability of a Flowserve Double VRA seal at GSK, Montrose

Responding to an urgent Saturday morning call, NASH affected a 24-hour turnaround on a critical seal asset for channel partner De Dietrich, ensuring an important global pharmaceutical client avoided any production down time.

As the approved seal test and repair partner for De Dietrich, NASH stepped in to analyse a seal that had been serviced by an OEM but failed when it was refitted to a process line filter dryer at GSK’s Montrose facility in Scotland.

The NASH team in Bolton accepted delivery of the seal early Saturday evening, stripped it down and identified the problem as a cracked outboard rotary seal ring. A replacement seal ring was manufactured overnight and the seal unit was reassembled and pressure tested the following Sunday morning.

After successful testing, the seal was returned to the site in Scotland for 6.30pm Sunday evening, installed on the dryer and re-commissioned by the De Dietrich team later that night.

‘The tight timeline was the obvious challenge with this turnaround’ commented Matthew Corker, technical director, NASH. ‘Of course, we couldn’t be sure what we would be receiving, but with decades of experience with all types of seals, we’re always confident we can repair and service.’

The delighted end user commented on a ‘remarkable turnaround’ whilst our partner at De Dietrich described NASH’s intervention as ‘beyond our expectation’.
