Dynamic Testing of Gas Seal Gives Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Added Reassurance

A pharmaceutical company based in Ireland had several Goulds STX pumps fitted with John Crane T2800E/0349 pressurised double gas lubricated mechanical seal cartridges. The pumps operate at 2900 rpm and the product temperature is ambient. Barrier gas is nitrogen.

Client challenge:

The company was looking for a more responsive service and higher quality seal repairs to avoid unplanned outages and the associated lost production caused by premature failure of their mechanical seals.

Our response:

Working to original seal specifications and materials, NASH independently specified and sourced all necessary seal parts, including laser-etched faces, and began repairing and rebuilding each seal cartridge in factory-controlled conditions. Each seal was also dynamically tested at pump operating parameters to verify performance prior to shipping.

Client benefits:

    • Fewer seal failures
    • Improved seal performance
    • Reassurance of factory dynamic test
    • Increased pump operating times
    • Lost production eliminated

NASH helped the pharmaceutical company meet its pump operational objectives. If you operate pumps with unreliable mechanical seals and need a solution, please to contact us.
