A Czechia-based pharmaceutical company was running a stainless-steel mixer vessel fitted with a John Crane T7700 90mm seal. Operating parameters are 80rpm, 130°C at 3 barg
Client challenge:
The liquid-lubricated seal was regularly failing within a few months. Repairs were carried out in-house but the frequesnt failures continued. The client needed to find a better solution, extending the MTBF to a more realistic, and cost-effective, period.
Our response:
Working to original seal specifications and materials, NASH independently reviewed the seal and developed a solution to the issue. NASH converted the seal from liquid to gas lubrication using an N2 barrier at 4 barg.
Client benefits:
-
- Improved seal performance
- Increased pump operating times
- Fewer seal failures
- MTBF extended to over 3 years
NASH helped the pharmaceutical company meet its operational objectives. If you operate mixers or pumps with unreliable mechanical seals and need a solution, please to contact us.
